Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences

One of the most well known medical colleges of Telangana is Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), was established in 1961. Formerly known as Nizam’s Orthopaedic Hospital, it has campuses in Punjagutta and Bibinagar. With the objective of further developing the educational and research facilities the Andhra Pradesh State Legislature passed a bill making NIMS a university. The Act came into effect from 18 June 1989.
